I couldn´t ask the best way to end our denim week*if not with the same piece shown in introductory post and now in this post´s head-photo.  It´s actually a part of the special-made editorial to celebrate one of most talked brands right now – Vetements.
Even she doesn´t like it, but Demma Gvasalia, head of the Vetements design collective, has gained a reputation of being the coolest designer or we could say the hottest novelty in fashion right now.  The brand is really about authenticity. Gvasalia´s intention was never and still isn´t to invent new silhouettes, but all collections are marked by pieces that we know well; from bombers and denim to trench coats and peacoats.
“Even though it’s a challenge, we try to find fabrics that are authentic to these pieces. We’re not trying to be sophisticated, so the authenticity of the materials is important. An Antwerp T-shirt and a Thrasher sweatshirt had been lying around the office forever. We get inspired by things that we see. There is so much out there already and we’re not trying to make new pieces, so we choose pieces that we instinctively like.”

COS X HAY

When two brands with very similar seasonless and minimal aesthethics join forces into more than dream collaboration; this is what happened between our beloved COS and the Danish interior company Hay. The two know each other very well, because COS has used Hay furniture in its stores for many years, so this follow-up step is more than spontaneous, natural. The two are now displaying and selling in selected stores (Vienna, London and Gothenborg) and online the collaborative designs alongside other items individually selected from Hay’s range, by head of women´s-wear design Karin Gustaffson and head of men´s-wear Martin Andersson. "We have always admired what Hay do and share many values. Our customers have a keen interest in interior design and we felt it was the right time to offer alternative products that complimented our clothing collections." said Andersson.

DENIM ON THE STREET

There´s no true fashion, without true people wearing it. To be true in-between fashion weeks there are a lot of posers that in the last few years made from street-style a big pomp-circus. But we can still close one eye, pretending that we don´t know that. Why not, because we can still got some tips, be inspired or just rest our eyes for a minute or two on beauty that fashion can make. Are you with me? Then ok! :) Let´s find out above what Tommy Ton, the „guilty-man" behind the lens, captured during last fashion events this year.

Could you ever imagine Wes Anderson* playing with interior design? He was invited by Prada to create the main dining space inside the OMA-designed Fondazione Prada in Milan, a new arts centre. With a Bar Luce, he intended to recreate the atmosphere from famous Milanese landmarks and cafes around the city in particularly those dating back from the 1950´s and 60´s. The result is a pastel-heavy colour palette** present in various details, colours and finishes, including the upholstered Formica furniture.

ACNE STUDIOS F/W 2015/2016 AD CAMPAIGN

Who is the 11-year-old boy, wearing a pale-pink coat and high heels in the new Acne Studios ad campaign that will run in outdoor advertising in Paris, London, New York and Hong Kong? It´s Acne´s creative director son, Frasse Johansson, captured by the brand long-term collaborator and photographer Viviane Sassen.

“I’ve seen this new generation’s attitude to fashion where the cut, the shape, and the character of the garment is the crucial thing, rather than seeking approval from society or to follow set norms. I immediately pictured Frasse, since he embodies this new breed to me. I asked him and I’m happy that he wanted to be a part of the campaign.”- said Jonny Johansson about it.

If we consider, that lately we´ve seen Cindy Crawford's 13-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber scoring a September spread in CR Fashion Book and Jane Birkin's 12-year-old granddaughter, Alice Attal, as the face of Comptoir des Cotonniers, just to name the few, is this becoming a true trend. At the end I am simply asking myself, where is really the point of this?

TO SPEND MONEY OR NOT TO ON A PAIR OF JEANS?

When the subject is jeans, we all have the same idea of them: most of the time they are blue*, paired with zip or buttons, belt loops and having five pockets**. That´s our basic notion about them. The difference comes with all wash-variations, colouring and the fit. The market has full of brands, variations, so tons of options for you to choose. Most of the time one of key factors is the price. On the market you have jeans for 20 Eur (approximately $25) and jeans for 200 (approximately $25)  or more. Yes, yes, plus all in-between ones. But why is such a difference in the price? You would probably think that they are only jeans.  So what really makes a difference between the cheapest and the most expensive one, not to mention all those in between? Fabric quality? Yeah. How they are treated? Yes. Where they are produced? A big yes. And there´s much more. Find it about out on this lovely graphic below. I almost forget it. Which one I buy or would buy? Before I didn´t put a lot of attention to the quality/fabric, which changed in last years, due the fact that everything I buy, I want that last. As with everything else. So I take time to research and discover great samples made from Japanese denim. Costly, would you say. Yes, they were, but that´s why the patience and a bit of luck pay of, because I almost every time buy them on discount.

DENIM IN RESORT 2016

Did you think that there will not be a women´s denim report? Really? I don´t believe you*. Of course they will. Sorry to say guys, but fashion business is still lead by women’s-wear**, so it´s time to check what or where*** the denim is present resort 2016 collections.

SINNERLIG

Is the name of the new Ikea´s launched* collection from star British designer Ilse Crawford. The collection consists of more than 30 pieces, categorized in three groups**and is made mostly from natural materials and in neutral shades. Among others you can find stoneware pitchers, cork tables and stools, bamboo pendant lights, daybeds made with jute webbing and dried sea-grass storage baskets.

CUFF THEM UP

Roll or cuff them? I was a "jeans-roller" till last year´s summer. Since them I like to cuff them into extreme. Weird? Maybe, but I like it that way and they fit nicely with slides.

I LOVE YOU ON

FAVOURITE U.S. DENIM BRANDS

Who doesn´t know about the pair of Levi´s jeans? They are with us from the 18th century. In 1853, during the California Gold Rush, they were introduced by Levi Strauss, who imported denim fabric from France* and used it to create solid, sturdy trousers, that would later become over-popular blue-jeans. Their popularity never faded; actually they are really high-demanded in the last year. Beside Lev´s, there are many other really great denim brands from the U.S. to mind; after sharing you my European favourites, here are coming the U.S. colleagues.

DENIM IN S/S 2016 MENSWEAR COLLECTIONS

Denim piece, that could be a jacket, jeans, coat or any possible garment made from this versatile material, was, is and will always be present in our lives. I bet that there´s 100% for sure that each and every one of you has at least one denim piece in your wardrobe. Consequently it would be quite insane if major fashion brands would not propose at least few pieces of denim-wear in their collection. This season and the upcoming ones are telling us that there is no need to worry about that. If we look at the S/S 2016 menswear collections that ended like a month and half ago, we can see that almost every brand is proposing at least a look or two including denim-wear. Below I´ve made a selection of looks from the catwalk, mixing casual, elegance, surprising and innovative factor.

FAVOURITE EUROPEAN DENIM BRANDS

The fashion business is really about denim lately and it will be in upcoming seasons, men and women, none was and will be excluded. It´s ok to buy denim from a fashion brand, but generally most of them are focus on season trends, so you will get a season denim piece; nothing wrong, because after all denim is timeless and almost every piece made of it becomes so. When I decide to buy denim, I always prefer start looking for it between brands that made denim things only. When I´ve said denim things are timeless ones, I meant it, but never got in mind only classic ones, because some brand made really wow things! Below take a at my favourite European denim brands*creating really cool and utilitarian pieces.

D WEEK

Trend followers and not*, we have this and upcoming season something really**in common. It´s not just about a piece, but more about of material and from which can be made almost everything. I am totally realistic, when I say that everybody*** is in contact with it from early age. What I am talking about? Three possibilities to guess would be more than enough, but I will not tease you anymore. Denim, yeah! If nothing else, my first memory of it is traced to my early childhood wearing denim dungarees. A little farm-boy like in the city . Since then the denim industry evolved enormously, not only  in numbers of different jeans brands that have been established, but the functionality and usable side of it in different sectors.
That´s why I´ve decided that this week´s post will be mostly focus on denim and you´re right if you presume that will be in correlation with fashion. So let the D week starts!
