GRECIAN SLIPPER

The ancient Greeks were known for their laid-back elegance, and their influence shines through in this effortlessly stylish slipper which bears their name. With a low heel and elegant sole, this slipper is an ideal choice for luxurious and not only indoor comfort.

PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE

Loewe did it really in big way to celebrate its 170 years; alongside the beautiful exhibition and the re-opening of its Madrid store, the brand also released a super-gorgeous book of photographs,  a true collector piece made in collaboration with Luis Venegas to mark the venerable brand´s history, what´s happening now and what is yet to come, as it is also outlined by the title.

The book that can be a good Christmas present for someone you care and love or, why not, a good one for yourself, is sold in the 25 international Loewe boutiques and in selected bookstores, as it also in the independent concept stores and online.

MODERNIST AND ORGANIC

I guess that there´s no doubts on what J.W. Anderson made from Loewe, ok I will say it again, he put a big spotlight on this Spanish brand (known mostly for its leather manufacturing) in the luxury sector by reinventing the whole image and aesthetic. I guess also that we can freely say that Maison de L´Unesco become lately a sort of the brand´s “showcase-place” when presenting their new collection. This time happened to be the Joan Miró rooms to host the latest women´s wear creations.

Loewe´s winter is denoted by an organic elegance and a sophisticated modernism, brand´s most polished collection made by Anderson yet. Just mind that gorgeous padded coat in cognac-coloured buttery leather with matching pants or the similar “mise” in military-green. Of course he didn´t let us yearn for quirkiness, because it was still there, thankfully. I simply cannot imagine any design made by Anderson not having it; it is his unique trademark. So, there were leather corsets sculpted on tube dresses,  long and pleated skirts with raw handkerchief hems, beaded necklaces that make that extra gathering in neckline and waist of loose cotton shirtdresses, tasselled tweeds and looped chainmail skirts or the sparkly-metal effect of dress sleeves made out of metal rings, not to mention the importance of many accessories present, like hand-painted resin cat-shaped pendants, back-open silver court shoes and of course the bags, the multi-pocket version of the classic-already Amazona bag and the Joyce bag, featuring a big gold logo plate as a novelty of the house.

Liya Kebede and Jackson Wakefield were captured by a master-photographer Steven Meisel in front of a sculpture combining rugged rocklike formations with white iridescent sections, while the art direction and styling went to long-time Jonathan Anderson collaborators, M/M Paris and Benjamin Bruno.

LOEWE F/W 2016/2017 LOOKBOOK

Before I focus/analyse or simply write my point of view of the F/W 2016/2017collection, Loewe released the lookbook, shot by Jamie Hawkesworth and featuring Mayka Merino, Natalia Westling and Vittoria Ceretti.

HE REALLY KNOWS HOW

Every collection that J.W. Anderson makes, except maybe the one for Vesrus, it comes as a true surprise and believe me, nowadays it´s quite hard to see anything interesting on a catwalk, beside few brands making really great daily-pieces (whereby you built your perfect wardrobe). I really like Anderson and I think that he is, regardless double* awards at the BFA yesterday, one of really, really few designers to be named as a true talent. His style is distinctive, almost unique and although every time different, you always know that is about him and his aesthetic. I admire his idea of mixing periods, new concepts and also his playful side in a really smart way.  Want a proof? Do I need to prove it? I hardly think so. Take a look at his latest Loewe collection.  Anderson plays with the idea of mixing two poles that are representing the current word; a synthetic, man-made on one side versus organic, natural materials on the other side. Many could also say a mix of a good-taste, almost bourgeois´ style with a bad-taste made of literal pvc- transparency, logo-mania and a the first sight not really flattering shoes .  Exactly here is the core, the essence of his brilliance; merging really sellable clothes with the “wow-factor” editorial ones. Once again my dear, chapeau!

LOEWE´S

Loewe launched its first sneaker collection, officially debuted in the men´s F/W 2015/2016 campaign. A combination of the brand´s leather expertise and the youthful energy, you would be able to choose among different colour and material combinations; from January 2016 the range will be updated with a space-travel inspired "Galaxy" motif, the same one seen on the runway.

We are not in the "it-bag" era anymore. Apparently. There are still a lot* trend-influencers or we can also name them "products-pushers" that suggest to other in a somehow delicate-covered** way what would be cool that you and your wardrobe*** have. Pure business. But that´s cool, if you don´t overdo. That´s pretty a nonsense saying it, with this beautiful bag in front of you. Isn´t it? But it´s not. There´s a simple will from me to share with you things that I like, admire and, yes, want too. Puzzle bag by Loewe is like that. A nice-piece-bag. My it-one.

LOEWE BOOK #06

It´s out the new one.Who doesn´t want literally grab one copy of very limited, only 1,200 linen bounded collectible books, celebrating and documenting Jonathan Anedrson´s work for the Spanish fashion house? Includes photos that were made the day before the show, featuring Lexi Boling in front of Jamie Hawkesworth´s lens and styled by Benjamin Bruno.

80´S LOVE

J.W. Anderson brought his well-known beloved eighties exuberance from his namesake label to Loewe.  At the UNESCO headquarters we saw soft buffalo bomber jackets, patent a-shape lab coats, swing-glam lame plisse pleating on shirtdresses and below-the knee skirts and pattern-pieces, that beside the red and green-blue pop of colours, made the collection more vibrant. There was a pleasant comeback, or to say more exact, a redone of those famous and well sellable leather wide-legged pants from the S/S 2015 collection, now recut in herringbone with cargo pockets. It´s impressive how J.W. in only two seasons turned the sleepy brand into the most talk able and admirable one. After many years, thankfully to him, the brand got their new IT-bad, “Trapeze”.

NOWADAYS 70´S

Anderson at his second Loewe´s menswear collections continues, in a magnificent and magical way, to combine his androgynous (to be specific, gender-free) elements and the well-known leather heritage of the Spanish fashion house. Anderson´s teasing-provocative part was especially accentuated in pieces, like the suit made of multi-colored pixelated patterns, second-skin knitwear, palazzo trousers, a poncho, oversize-shawls and big rounded-feminine sunglasses. On the another were timeless pieces, like buttery-soft aviator jackets with shearling collars, motorcycle jackets from kangaroo leather, a nubuck navy trench, Japanese-denim pea-coats and prolonged tweed coat. There was a strong 70´s scent present in this collection, without a déjà-vu, but more with a “I will do” thing. A good-to-see how the past can appear really fresh. And it is.

LIKE A NEWBORN

J.W. Anderson made yesterday the last step of changing Loewe; changing in a way of modernizing it. It all started with the logo and the visual package then continued with a successful menswear collection and to end with womenswear collection; including also the preview of the S/S 2015 campaign, here as a top photo.  Step by step he completed the mosaic and made from the brand like a newborn.  He used cotton and linen combined with leather to elaborate them into organic shapes and earthy textures. Wide leg leather trousers pressed in the waist area with a judo-like belt, dresses and cape like suede tops with patches in the same material, clean-minimal trenches and voluminous, airy-light blouses. Everything looked minimal, fresh and very J.W. Anderson.
