After two weeks from her final show for Chloé, Claire Waight Keller was officially confirmed by the French luxury label Givenchy as a new Creative Director, effective from May 02.

"She has this great ability to break the rules and innovate without making a revolution," Givenchy CEO Philippe Fortunato told to WWD. "Her very focused approach will help the brand in building the on-going momentum we have – and taking it to the next level."
"Hubert de Givenchy's confident style has always been an inspiration and I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this legendary house’s history," said Waight Keller. "I look forward to working with the teams and writing a new chapter in this beautiful story."

Her debut collection for the French house is set in October.

DRONE BOMB ME
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Is the title of the first music video released few days ago by musician Anohni, formerly known as Antony Hegarty. This unique project, that stars one and only Naomi Campbell, was directed by Nabil and art-directed by Riccardo Tisci.

Tisci and Anohni met seven years ago and have a history of collaborations. The designer first heard "Drone Bomb Me" in his room at the Mercer Hotel, and he was instantly inspired to create the video concept. Tisci contributed to the whole video-image as well as the concept, so I guess there´s no need to ask what Naomi was wearing. Givenchy, of course.

"I wanted to pair vigorous content with a seductive sound. Each song is a treatise wrapped up like a Trojan horse”, Anohni told Vogue about her upcoming album "Hopelessness", which is scheduled to be released on May 6.

THE ROW holds their pre-fall imagery
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

What Céline has done for years and still doing it, some American brands are following the French luxury house steps. What I am talking about? About releasing high-resolution images of pre-collections right on a day when these collections are hitting stores. As it did Proenza Schouler two weeks ago, now it´s time for The Row to hold the brand´s pre-fall imagery until April.  Everybody who was invited – fashion business insiders – to take a look at the brand´s latest collection, was also informed that there will be not distributive images of the collection until the mid-April, when it starts hitting sales floors.

So there will probably be a bit of “hard-time” for Zara and other fashion-street-like retailers that intensively all these years “used” some ideas straight from big-brands and turned them into their fast-selling collections; but I guess that Inditext (Zara´s mother-house) will not be stopped by the first obstacle on its way, when made only in first 9 months this year 2 billion of profits. Don´t you think?

CHANEL´s new challenge
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Chanel is breaking its rules and is going out into the world of online shopping. Bruno Pavlovsky, Chanel’s president of fashion, confirmed the house’s plan to launch e-commerce that could happen in the upcoming autumn (next September to be more specific). “It’s not so much a shift. It’s an evolution to better serve our customers. So it’s more e-service than a pure e-commerce approach.” Pavlovsky explained.

NIKE X R.T.

2013 was definitely one of huge years for Riccardo Tisci, winning the CFDA International Award, the Met Gala and his costumes for the Opera Garnier. The year 2014 barely started, but we could say that will big as well if not even bigger. Yesterday has been announced that the Givenchy´s creative director has done an exclusive collaboration with Nike. No big details about the prolific result of the collaboration; we know that the logo will be “Nike RT” and of course footwear will be an important part of it. The range will hit stores and Nike.com this spring.

BOOKS // BOOK OF GOD / VISIONAIRE 60 RELIGION

If you don’t believe that fashion is a religious sect unto itself—and a fast-growing one at that—well, maybe you should pray a little harder. Need you be reminded that today’s most awe-inspiring transfigurations are achieved by supermodels, not saints? (Easy to confuse the two, granted.) Should you be one of these lamentable non-believers, you might want to check out Visionaire’s latest issue, devoted to religion and guest-edited by Riccardo Tisci in collaboration with Givenchy.
