NOVELTIES #41

THE ROW holds their pre-fall imagery
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

What Céline has done for years and still doing it, some American brands are following the French luxury house steps. What I am talking about? About releasing high-resolution images of pre-collections right on a day when these collections are hitting stores. As it did Proenza Schouler two weeks ago, now it´s time for The Row to hold the brand´s pre-fall imagery until April.  Everybody who was invited – fashion business insiders – to take a look at the brand´s latest collection, was also informed that there will be not distributive images of the collection until the mid-April, when it starts hitting sales floors.

So there will probably be a bit of “hard-time” for Zara and other fashion-street-like retailers that intensively all these years “used” some ideas straight from big-brands and turned them into their fast-selling collections; but I guess that Inditext (Zara´s mother-house) will not be stopped by the first obstacle on its way, when made only in first 9 months this year 2 billion of profits. Don´t you think?

THE REUNION
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

This is an appropriate title for what happened recently. Exactly 27 years after that 1988´s iconic Vogue shoot, the man who captured it, Peter Lindbergh, assembled some of the top faces of the nineties and iconic models ever – the supermodels. In this special latest instalment of Nowness`s Directors´Cut series six icons, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Karen Alexander, Helena Christensen, Nadja Auermann and Tatjana Patitz, reunite with the legendary German photographer on a breezy Californian beach, to relieve a historic moment.

VOGUE PARIS MARCH 2015

"Lara, Daria and Kate might not have been born in France, but they each represent a vision of the archetypal French woman for this month's cover. A Frenchwoman who knows like no other, how to get what she wants when it comes to the opposite sex," writes Emmanuelle Alt, Vogue Paris editor-in-chief, in her March 2015 editorial. All three in the same "Basic Instinct" pose and wearing Prada´s S/S 2015 leather trenchcoat. Which is your favourite one?

pssst...at the end have you noticed something?...something familiar?  Yes, you´re right. All three covergirls did in the same way three covers of Vogue Paris September 2012 issue.

The Swedish-born photographer interviewed and photographed the Canadian supermodel and his long-time muse (since their first work together for Numéro in 2003). The result is a beautiful, softly-raw (more savage), natural and intimate. I very heart this woman.

Beside that she appeared 28 times on the cover of Vogue and that she is one of the first-ever models to get a title of a supermodel, Mrs. Hutton is from the 70´s on a true style icon. Simple, less-is-more, classy looks "paired" always with her timeless trademark - her smile.

#TOWELSERIES

It´s been nearly a week since the last post...some private stuff (moving to a new apartment..so loads of sweat and dust and no-glamour in last days) needed to be done. How I would love to spend my first, nearly-relaxing afternoon? Bathtub filled with water+bath oil, slow-jazz and a glass of something good. Towels are a part of this story too (when it ended...to continue another one), so a good way to look what for few months already is the Mario Testino doing?

The Peruvian photographer´s been shooting an Instagram-exclusive series that he named “The Towel Series”, where you can "recognise" some of the world´s femous models and not only. Everything started (something like) six months ago when he snapped Kate Moss in a white robe and towel. From then on, the list of "appereancer-s" include Gisele Bündchen, Miley Cyrus, David Gandy, Christiano Ronaldo, Amanda Murphy, Tom Heukels, Joan Smalls and many more...and it´s still evolving. Click here to see more on his Instagram account (btw, here is mine).

WHO´S THAT GIRL?

....sang Madonna. But does anyone remember the redhead, nose-pierced French supermodel from the nineties, Sybil Buck? She started in the 1992, working with Yves Saint Laurent; Alexander McQueen and Chanel* and quit the modeling job in the 1998; after that she started a music career** and also as a yoga teacher. After many years, she is back in modeling too***, like in this editorial from the AnOther Magazine S/S 2014. She is still a garconish-like beauty, but without the red head, less powerful. Let us to refresh our mind with a video, where she presented herself in the models profile during Mtv´s House of Style, the 90´s iconic tv programme.

* just to name few
** as a bass player and singer
*** quite a trend in last few years; to see 80´s and 90`s supermodel back on track

MARINE DELEEUW AND BLACK DRESS

Magazine: Interview Germany November 2013
Photography: Sharif Hamza
Styling: Julia Von Boehm
Hair: Akki Shirakawa
Makeup: Frankie Boyd
Model: Marine Deleeuw

Back to black? Well, no...I never left it! :) I am not even inspired at all by the styling in this ediotial, but I am inspired by her...the model, Miss Marine Deleeuw. She did all important shows during all fashion shows, from New York to Paris, in total 65. She graces the F/W 2013/2014 ad campaigns of Carven, Iceberg, Moschino and Louis Vuitton. Not to count many editorials in various magazine. She is a face of a new Supermodel. A new possible Daria Werbowy, classic and modern beauty, but very edgy and fresh. Do I need to say a rising star?

DARIA WERBOWY GORGEOUS FOR MAIYET F/W 2013/2014 AD CAMPAIGN

My beloved Daria (Werbowy)...she always impress me (almost every time ;) ). I really like her also here in the MaIyet F/W 2013/2014 ad campaing, photographed by Cass Bird, with short-garconish hair (do you remember her with short hair in one of the Vogue Usa video from the "Punk stories" series? ), small-est amount of make-up, but still very feminine.

Kristy Caylor, Co-Founder, Creative Director and President of MaIyet, described : "For the past seasons, we have traveled to some exotic places for shoots, but NY is our home, and we just opened our very first shop here on Crosby Street, so it felt right to find a location here for the Fall season. We loved the idea of this strong, interesting, girl stranded on a beach at night – maybe she’s alone, maybe she’s with someone else…it’s mysterious, sexy, and a little bit fun all at the same time."

ZARA WOMEN F/W 2013/2014 CAMPAIGN

Zara is the fast fashion brand that works as the perfect visual machine. What i mean with that? Well, every season´s trend is available in Zara. So if you do not know or follow trends, just visit one of Zara shops and take a tour. The only bad thing of the whole story is their (yet known) lack of quality, season by season more. So for me Zara is became a bit overpriced for the quality you get. But the point of this post is not this...but about their last cool, (finally) a bit more fresh and 3.1 Phillip Lim inspired, campaign. Photographed by Patrcik Demarchelier and starring Caroline Brasch Nielsen, Ashleigh Good, Julia Nobis, Juliane Gruner and Mijo Mihaljcic.
