ELEBORATED ESSENTIALISM

Samuel Drira´s constant idea is to bring a sort of uniformity, but not the literal one that sound stiff and rigid, but he is about pieces with a certain flexibility or in other words, elevated basics, must-haves that encompass all elements, from comfort to quality, from ease to versatility. Layering silhouettes, made from elaborated garments inspirited by essential pieces, as may be the kimono and a shirt in an East-meets-West way, like for example relaxing denim with a Judo belt, lightweight lacquered leather reversible blouson, tunics, fringed dresses and ponchos, cotton track pants and bicolour plisse knits. The colour palette is mostly in the Nehera classic scheme, like beige, black and oatmeal, but Drira added also some pop of colour, seen in saturated tones of purple, khaki and rust, inspired by the universe of artist Serge Lutens.

Timeless, silent luxury, eclectic, comfortable, practical, functional and indivdual. This is Nehera.

FADED FORMS

Nehera is about everyday clothes through which people are revealing their personality, a brand where the functionality, practicality, comfort, high-quality and seasonless play the main role. The latest collection signed by Samuel Drira is about outerwear constructed like luggage meets peplum and handkerchief underneath in shades based on natural tones. It is a sort of dreamy, nomadic concept for ageless women, shown also on a catwalk by models of different ages, where velvet dresses are paired with short double-breasted jackets and leggings, monastic-like long robes with even so long skirts, capes with large pockets in the back worn over turtleneck, while Eighties rounded sheepskin blousons are paired with more romantic, long dresses, not to mention the Prince of Wales suiting, roomy tunics in velvet or wool paired with silk dresses,  slouchy leather pants and cocoon coats. This was another great example of Drira´s remarkable capability in layering and in mixing different textures.

SOFT

Samuela Drira continues with his timeless ethos at Nehera, build on quality, comfort and practical essence. The Fall 2016 collection consist mostly of ton-sur-ton looks, divided in categories of colours, starting with camel, light beige and ivory, to continue in the grey area and ending with white and black, not forgetting the kilim carpet inspired pattern in between. The collection looks really soft, cosy, because of many knits and different wools that we can imagine what sort of divine feeling should be while wearing any piece. There was less layering effect present and even more than usual a focus on the multi-usability of every garment.

INDIVIDUAL°ITY

Isabella Rossellini´s distinguish voice on the soundtrack opened the show. This was not just a random thing, but a sort of a true homage to the artist, by who Samuel Drira´s was inspired while making the collection. Just mind her Mao jacket, here reinterpreted in utilitarian collars and rigour. Rosellini is an emblem of eclectic elegance, where she in every of her outfits combines comfort, practicality and usefulness on timeless, sophisticated basis with that always present Asian hint. This is the same aesthetic approached by Samuel Drira in every Nehera collection since he became the brand´s creative director. He offers a new path to sartorial satisfaction through a uniform of individuality and functionality with no season, sexual and style limit. Each garment offers many options of wear, giving to a wearer a freedom of expression, a characteristic that all clothes at the end should have.

SOMETHING TO LOVE

Samuel Drira as a creative director of this Slovakian (based) brand is continuing to offering timeless garments, combining great construction and utility, making the wearer feel comfortable, serene and sensual at the same time. His spring 2016 collection is made of mostly two tonal looks, making that way an extra effect on designs that are already playing with volumes and proportions, mixing classic-tailoring with oversize. Different, classy, new classic and sophisticated.

UNIQUE BEAUTY THAT CANNOT BE ARTICULATED

Nehera is a brand with it´s own vision, aethethic and certainly not influenced by season-trends. It ´s about the attire for enigmatic and individual woman. Woman with a strong persona and charisma, like the German –born American sculptor Eva Hesse. In her short life, she was at the epicenter of an anti-form sculptural movement. Her unique worldview helped inspire Samuel Drira to create F/W 2015/2016 collection. He, as always, masterfully “produced” a great link between the past and the future, a best possible conjuction of new ideas with the old ones. The shades of beige, ecru, earthy brown, blush pink and dove grey are like an unobtrusive canvas that connects the organic shapes of the clothes with its  structural sense of movement. Wool  egg-shaped coats, precisely tailored jackets paired with floating trousers, heavy jacquards, pleated silk bodices and wide topped pants with a knot at the waist, just give you an example of easiness that I was talking about.

FALL´S POETRY

Samuel Drira continues his poetry for Nehera´s pre-fall collection. Loose, layered silhouettes, most of the time monochrome, in minimalist colour palette, like beige, black, brown and pumpkin. Lovely aikido-inspired jackets, robe coats, tunic paired with wide-topped pants, soft wool turtlenecks and more geometric-sculpted pieces. This is really a great gold mean between utilitarianism, Japan´s pureness and modern cuts.

TO MIND - NEHERA

It happened in the (not so long) past with Céline and lately with Carven and Delpozo. At the end I guess someone will think or take it as a trend. But is not. What are we talking about? To revive a brand or to wake it up from the long-sleep, to say it in a more romantic way. That happened also with the Slovakian brand Nehera. The brand´s history starts in the first half of the 20th century, when the former designer and founder, Jan Nehera, made in the mid 30´s from it a renowed fashion house with over 130 fashion stores throughout Europe, USA, Russia, North and South Afrika. Everything didn´t last long. The reason was the second World War, that halted the business.
In 2014, after 70 years of silence,  the eastern beauty was brought back to life under the creative helm of Samuel Drira. Anyone that knows the aethethic of the French stylist,  creative consultant and founder-editor of the Parisian magazine Encens, knows in which direction is and will take the brand. It´s Drira´s credit (as a creative consultant) for the beginning and for my opinion the best Damir Doma era ever. On the list are also the rebirth of ChristopheLemaire and Hermès, not forget to mention The Row.  If you make a line and sum all images of the mentioned brands, you´ve got nearly a common aesthethic – the 80´s to 90´s, Japanese-influenced.
Nehera´s first official collection, the S/S 2015 one, is titled “Black Canvas”. What a best way to explain, how they needed to invent everything from the scratch. Literally they needed to consider how the new “basic” should look like. If we take for an example a white shirt – what a white shirt really is? Its point? How should be the collar, eventually the pocket and what most important is, the cut? The result are the boxy-pleated shirts, elongated jackets, voluminous pants and ankle-length ones and shirt-dresses. Smart, daily and well-made pieces, for an eclectic, practical and reflective woman, that loves comfort, long-lasting pieces and elegancy.
