TWO SIDES

The collection was a sort of homage to Mr. Laurent, to Yves, as a human being, facing two sides of him, one impeccably elegant during his work time, in a suit and tie attire, sleekness translated into perfection. On the other side, it was a night-out Yves, who liked a dungeon-like scene, the feel and smell of leather, the one that Robert Mapplethorpe used and marked in his works, a play of contrast between elegance and audacity, used as an inspiration by Anthony Vaccarello. The attraction of the opposites is a timeless wardrobe of ultra-cool suits, embraced by overcoats and paired with knee-high leather boots.

SAINT LAURENT WINTER 2024 CAMPAIGN

The allure of the sheerness, adorned with some luscious marabou jackets and razor-sharp stilettos of the Saint Laurent winter 2024 collection, translated into a video directed by Juergen Teller and featuring Kate Moss, Charlotte Rampling and Anja Rubik, among others.

SAINT LAURENT MEN WINTER 2024 AD CAMPAIGN

The campaign, photographed and directed by Glen Luchford, is a true homage to great masters, where we can see scenes inspired by Michelangelo and Caravaggio to Édouard Manet, like Manet’s 1863 masterpiece "Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe" or the "Boy With a Basket of Fruit" as painted by Caravaggio, with a modern twist – a hint of playful sensuality inspired by 20th-century film directors like Visconti and Pasolini.

YSL BEAUTY SPRING 2017

Yves Saint Laurent, the beauty line, goes Street Art for its spring 2017 make-up collection. There are loads of vibrant and rich colours, graffitiesque-inspired packaging that make almost a feel that Keith Haring got some "input" in this line launching in January 2017. Our "especially-to-look-for" product is the "Baby Doll Kiss & Blush Duo Stick" that will be out in six colour combinations designed to help you carve out and enhance your face or to create an ombré lip look.

CAT EYE

This eye make-up is back this fall. Well, was actually really out for someone, because believe me I saw many faces wearing it. Why? I think the reason is simple; this style is one of easiest to do, it gives a great visual effect and emphasize in a really "dramatic" way the eye. For this eye-look you will need a liquid liner, like by Eyeko, Alexa Chung´s favourite that is super inky and precise and contains a trio of peptides that condition the roots of your lashes and promote extra growth or the one by Yves Saint Laurent thats water resistant, it doesn’t flake and you can pick among four shades (two shades of blue, an inky black and a mossy green) or the one by MarcJacobs for shiny and fine lines.

LA COLLECTION DE PARIS

The all glamour of the 80´s, especially the dressing-part that we are used to see on photographs portrayed by big names like Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton, were vivid and reinterpreted in best possible way by Hedi Slimane on his last Saint Laurent fashion show. I will not avoid, but will literally skip the theme about his (for many) questionable legacy at Saint Laurent and departure from the brand, but especially two major and potent facts may give you the answer that you/we are wrong; he totally changed the whole vision-package and not only at the French house. He introduced the point of look-play and made it primordial, instead of (re)inventing something, which become a true hype during last seasons. Secondly and probably the most important thing, especially to conglomerate owners, is that his Saint Laurent sell and really well. Now let´s go spread some words about his power-dressing collection, the one that is more couture than a regular prêt-à-porter. The stiletto pumps paired with sheer black tights were present through the whole collection and although they were not really a true 80´s shoe (originally introduced in the 1930´s), actually during that time they almost disappeared, but were a good choice for all the tight-fit dresses, emphasizing this way the sexiness of long legs. Almost minimal bottom, except for few puffed skirts, was juxtaposition to the volume and blink-almighty top-part; flourishing side-bows, fur coats with exaggerated shoulders, loads of crystals, sequins, metal flakes, metal rings and ruffles.
The first and the last collection are with no doubts my favourite made by him for the French fashion house and despite all in-between that I might not be a true fan of, I must admit that he is one of the few that makes a difference everywhere he goes, as he did it for Dior Homme in the past, he did it as well for Saint Laurent. That´s more than a talent.

SAINT LAURENT #01

The first teaser of Anthony Vaccarello´s vision for Saint Laurent is here. You can name it campaign, but due the fact that models on these two images made by Collier Schorr are bare, it´s better say that we are pre-viewing  that new-coming allure of the French fashion house. The actual, whole campaign will be revealed on June 20th, featuring 15 new faces that Vaccarello picked personally. Will they will be dressed? Wait till tomorrow.

SURF AND SOUND TAKE TWO

Slimane´s Saint Laurent S/S 2016 is true homage to his beloved California, defined by the West Coast´s motorcycle and surf scene. Ripped , studded, glittered clothes for boys and girls are this time interpreted by Dylan and Amelia, with, as usual, Hedi behind the lens. He continues to combine its always minimalistic b&w photo-approach with less minimalistic (still by him designed) Laurent´s garments. Take a „ride“ on this second part, before you get them physically in stores from January 2016.

After weeks of rumours and speculations, it´s now official and confirmed by the fashion house last Friday:  "Balenciaga and Alexander Wang announce their joint decision not to renew their contract beyond its initial term. Since 2012, Alexander Wang has stood at the creative helm of the maison and has been instrumental in the pursuit of its development. With his proven talent and his irreverent, modern vision of design, Alexander Wang has brought a new impetus to the brand. Balenciaga and Kering would like to thank Alexander Wang for his accomplishments and wish him the very best with his eponymous brand as well as all his future endeavours."
Alexander Wang added: "It’s been an incredible experience to work with a couture house in Paris. I am honoured to have had the opportunity to work for this historical maison. I would like to thank the brilliant team at Balenciaga for their collaboration and for what we have accomplished together, and I am looking forward to taking my own brand to its next level of growth."

As expected, the s/s 2016 Balenciaga collection, which is set to be shown on Oct. 2 during Paris Fashion Week, will be his last collection for the brand. A new creative director will be announced "in due course."

Lately, after months of renovating, Saint Laurent re-opened  its famous shop, transformed now into sleek new design; a mix of Art Deco, marble flores and wooden Maian masks.  Hedi with a help by architects and Jacques Adnet and André Sornay  created for the 390 m² space himself a simple clean décor, mixed with ethnic and vintage elements.

Besides that, Slimane, creative director since 2012, has in plan other changes for the French house. He moved his design studios and couture salons to Sénecterre hose on the Left Bank last year and by 2018 has plans to transfer also its headquarters to the heart of the Cistercian Penthémont Abbey.

FASHION NEWS // HEDI SLIMANE FOR YSL TOP SECRET

Those who hoped to enjoy the first fruits of the return of Hedi Slimane at Yves Saint Laurent's creative guidance already in June will be disappointed: it seems that the designer, who returned in the French fashion house after the departure of Stefano Pilati, has banned the press from the presentations of the collections Yves Saint Laurent Resort 2013 Men's Spring-Summer 2013 .
