THE WORK OF MIYAKE ISSEY

If you live in Tokyo, you´ve probably heard about this. If you are visiting or have a plan to visit Tokyo in the next three months, then you have to note this unique experience. From 16 March The National Art Center in Tokyo is displaying forty-five years of innovative fashion and design made by one and only Issey Miyake. The exhibition is an unprecedented insight into the fashion career of the designer, best known for his origami-like garments, technological development of textiles and a really unique approach to fashion.

Did you ever wanted to sneak into Céline´s office and showroom? I bet you would! Till now we know these addresses ,Chanel at 31 rue Cambon, Dior at 30 avenue Montaigne and Hermès at 24 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, so it´s really up-the-time to add the new (final?) one - 16 rue Vivienne.

WSJ, in the upcoming issue (out on April 4^th), with a help of Phoebe Philo and Céline´s CEO Marco Gobbetti, is making an extended profile about a renovating a 17^th century hôtel peculiar into a more sleek space, that in every aspect reflects the brands aesthetic. Both also explains why Philo´s studio still remains in London, why Céline don´t want (and need) to face the e-commerce, why since he and Phoebe arrived, they have closed more stores than they have opened (from 115 in 2008 to 94 today) and more.

ALL SHAPES OF LIGHT

Yoshiyuki Miyamae was inspired by the light in all of his phases, like the contrast of light and shadows for Issey Miyake S/S 2014 collection, showed with colors of white, black and gray. He evokes the “stars in sky during the night” and the "sun ray" thing with tiny holes punched in the leather on series of jackets, skirts and coats at the beginning of the collection. He did a lot of monochromatic outfits and some color blocked evoking different part of the day (total white as a sunny day, black as night, black-white as a rising or falling sun). Beside the lightness of most materials, the summer part in terms of colors came with the variation of the color spectrum, the one that the light make when filtering through a prism.
