ANDROGYNY

Understanding the fundamental of androgyny is vital as it differs from the society´s idea of beauty in woman. There is a subtle realisation that the inner aspect oneself is a mixture of the dichotomy of traits stereotypically associated with men and women. To say that all women are passive and all men are aggressive is an ambiguous statement. While tendencies may exist, it is safe to say we all belong somewhere in between.
Max.Tan’s/S 2017 explores in breaking gender boundaries with femininity intact. Corsetry laces are used to shape the torso in a masculine manner, while tailored pants are slashed to allow it to fall in a feminine manner. Or there are pieces like a blazer with shoulder cuts and ruffles that embodies both spirits, female and male. This constant coalescence of details from the women and silhouettes from the men creates an amicable contrasted outcome, allowing them to meet at a universal point.Androgyny is more than just boy in frocks and girls in suit, it is an attitude that goes beyond the unspoken rules of gender.

LU GEDIGTE PERLAOPIS

About two weeks ago I posted the first official image from Peter Movrin´s MA degree collection "Lu Gedigte Perlaopis"...and also promised you to reveal the whole set; the-day comes today and you can see all images photographed by Maya Nightingale.

"Collection's basic premise is that clothing should be regarded as adornment for body, as precious as jewelry, thus transcending the norms of fast and furious ready-to-wear. A quintessential bourgeois artefact, a pearl necklace, can produce an effect much alike that of a body mutilation, a scar, that most intimate adornment of them all. While researching the Ethiopian tribes' practice of body scarification or decoration the polished sculptures of Constantin Brâncuși kept popping up. The result is a very tactile monochromatic collection, where through manipulation and deformation garments become hidden jewelry pieces. With the final look pearls diffuse into an exotic print as a shout out to the wilderness, to the lost paradise and to painter Emil Nodol. It's an invitation to celebrate." - the official statement of the collection.

“Bijoux never leaves you cold. You always have an emotional response to a piece of jewelry, it carries so much family heritage, and when you have the honor to receive it you are in some way initiated into a society. I believe the same reaction should be expected of garments.” - Peter Movrin

The collection itself proves the versatility of Peter as a designer, combining daily wear elements with haute couture details. My favourite petermovrin collection so far and the one that include the outfit (the main photo and the first one) that I easily see myself to get marry with it.

EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK OF AREA DI BARBARA BOLOGNA S/S 2014 COLLECTION "TAXIDERMY - Emotional Dysfunction"

I am very happy and proud to present you some first images of the new, S/S 2014 collection, titled "TAXIDERMY - Emotional Dysfunction", from a super talented designer Barbara Bologna and her brand Area di Barbara Bologna. Exactly a week ago i posted on blog´s Facebook profile the first image as a pre-preview of the collection (the one on the top of this post) and I was really pleasantly surprised that something happened, something changed. After I received (today) all other images I posted today, was only a confirmation of my thoughts. Area is changing. Not the DNA of the brand, but the woman with the "Area di Barbara Bologna" soul is changing...her look, style. A change that is really rare today to see, no matter in a big or small brand; most of the brands today are the same.
I would say Barbara´s brand is growing and I do not mean it in economical terms (I have no doubts that she does), but in the soul part. A true poetic evolution. BRAVO!

ENTIRE ESTEBAN CORTAZAR FOR NET-A-PORTER SECOND COLLECTION

Launching tomorrow (July 17) on Net-a-Porter, the collection consists of 23 pieces including dresses, skirts, tops, jackets, jewellery and shoes in a color palette of charcoal, black and grey.

Esteban Cortazar says: “The idea from the beginning was for the collection to be trans-seasonal and
work throughout the year, in different countries and climates globally, and for every piece to be versatile and translate easily from day to night. There are lots of sporty separates that are great for layering which can be transformed into different looks by removing some of the layers, changing the accessories, shoes or adding some of my jewelry to give everything a tougher or more sophisticated edge. This collection is very much an evolution from the first, and explores the dichotomy between the sensual gestures of the female form and lines and angles that frame the body. The use of razor blade cuts creates a subtle motion, evoking the elegant and graceful movements of a manta ray and the tranquillity and strength of Tadao Ando spaces which inspired this collection. It’s a reaction towards the madness and noise around us.”

As with his debut collection last year, Cortazar worked closely with Net-a-Porter’s Fashion Director, Holli Rogers, who offered the talented designer mentoring from a retail standpoint.

Here you have an exclusive view of the whole collection that will be available tomorrow online on Net-a-Porter. Click on "Read more" to see the whole collection.

FIRST LOOK // EXCLUSIVE / SIMONE RAINER / "SUPERNOVAE" / F/W 2013/2014 / LOOKBOOK

Supernovae: an astral explosion, highly energetic that indicates the final stage of the massive stars´evolution. An explosion of a Supernova is charachterized by a bright emission, so shining that it equals the galaxy´s luminosity for limited amount of time.

The "Supernovae" collection of Simone Rainer F/W 2013/2014 rapresents the peak of a creative process. An explosion of material geometries such as galactic flakes and the appearence of new stars within the celestial sphere.

The collection itself is presenting as a strong will to explore the universe and space: "Step outside and gaze the stars." The desire to liberate oneself of the corporal heaviness caused through the strength of gravity and jump towards the magnificent moon. Galaxies far away and near that expand to spirals following the rules of the golden ratio. Evoking the will to be in the center of a pitch dark space enlighted by sparkling diamonds, vibrating points and burst of light that leave one breathless.

Daydreams about an impossible journey far away of Mother Earth, looking for a new and tridimensional perfection.

Almost a trip to the moon of a contemporary Little Prince, observing the vault of heaven and its infallible mathematical logics. This was the premordial journey: meticulous and precise. Admiring the Cosmographic Mystery Of Kepler, living the precision of the lunar phases and measure perfect orbits.

Yet Simone Rainer has been overpowered by sights so emotional that he forgot this mission.
Enchanted by Cassiopea and its supernovae all that is left, is for him to bring back the earth fragments of the stars.

EXCLUSIVE / PRE-VIEW // F/W 2013/2014 / AREA DI BARBARA BOLOGNA / "ATELOPHOBIA"

I am so happy to present you an exclusive preview of Barbara´s upcoming last collection, that will be presented in Paris from 28th of February to 5th of March (for more information see the photo below);

She describs her last collection with these words: "I saw a woman eating another being, in the most total perfection.
ATELOPHOBIA 's aversion to imperfection. I find it fascinating how a phobia can become a narcissism toward something, and bring perfection to cannibalism, act completely rude and imperfect, has forced me to see more deeply, trying to figure out where it might be this connection. I saw exactly where this connection is alive, it lies in uniting seemingly opposite elements thus creating a "personal" perfection. Creating a medicine for phobia."

If that is only a small preview, well we can not wait to see the rest soon...very soon.
