There are clothes, pieces of fashion that I will keep forever in my wardrobe; my so called archive. Timeless for their use or timeless for their design or pieces for me like a piece of art*. It´s more than a sentimental attachment to a certain piece, it´s the story behind of it. It may sound strange or superficial, but those garments always give me a certain thrill while I am watching them, even more while wearing them. Some pieces from my archive I included in this outfit post...Sosnovska, Rick Owens boots and Area di Barbara Bologna pants**.

EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK OF AREA DI BARBARA BOLOGNA S/S 2014 COLLECTION "TAXIDERMY - Emotional Dysfunction"
I am very happy and proud to present you some first images of the new, S/S 2014 collection, titled "TAXIDERMY - Emotional Dysfunction", from a super talented designer Barbara Bologna and her brand Area di Barbara Bologna. Exactly a week ago i posted on blog´s Facebook profile the first image as a pre-preview of the collection (the one on the top of this post) and I was really pleasantly surprised that something happened, something changed. After I received (today) all other images I posted today, was only a confirmation of my thoughts. Area is changing. Not the DNA of the brand, but the woman with the "Area di Barbara Bologna" soul is changing...her look, style. A change that is really rare today to see, no matter in a big or small brand; most of the brands today are the same.
I would say Barbara´s brand is growing and I do not mean it in economical terms (I have no doubts that she does), but in the soul part. A true poetic evolution. BRAVO!

EXCLUSIVE / PRE-VIEW // F/W 2013/2014 / AREA DI BARBARA BOLOGNA / "ATELOPHOBIA"
I am so happy to present you an exclusive preview of Barbara´s upcoming last collection, that will be presented in Paris from 28th of February to 5th of March (for more information see the photo below);
She describs her last collection with these words: "I saw a woman eating another being, in the most total perfection.
ATELOPHOBIA 's aversion to imperfection. I find it fascinating how a phobia can become a narcissism toward something, and bring perfection to cannibalism, act completely rude and imperfect, has forced me to see more deeply, trying to figure out where it might be this connection. I saw exactly where this connection is alive, it lies in uniting seemingly opposite elements thus creating a "personal" perfection. Creating a medicine for phobia."
If that is only a small preview, well we can not wait to see the rest soon...very soon.

S/S 2013 // AREA DI BARBARA BOLOGNA / "GENESIS"
As an Italian-born Sculptress and Body Art Performer, later graduated from “Accademia di Belle Arti” in Brera-Milan, her designs are more than just nice cuts; they are a complex performance made of images, video installations and the clothes itself.
The garment is the detail that makes it possible to view the image. And that´s why in 2000 the Area di Barbara Bologna was gave to birth. Area is her space, her emotional-perceptive and physical place in which se find art, music and theatre; the place of those who are able to feel the rest through the dress. This artistic module-gene is represented in every collection by her, as it is in the SS2013 one too, named Genesis.
Genesis for her is “the vision of something that is coming, we do not know anything, we are attracted unconsciously, we fear, because we are not able to decipher, failing to establish a common communication that allows us to understand.” From structures and cages are made clothes that wrap and enclose the body, adorned with sculptural jewelry. Matter creates geometries like joints on the body. From the cotton treated with paper effects, silk with graphics in relief like sand underneath the fabric, she try to give alive to something out of nothing. Leather that loses dust becomes a detail of dresses and blouses, leather with a rubber effect become sculptural jackets.
Overall the collection is a sublime marriage of all grey tones (silver-grey, black-blue, dove-grey to lead-grey) to carbon-black, fine and soft materials (from a cotton paper finish, polished linen and cotton to a light jersey and graphic silk) contrasted with rough touch of the leather and latex. The Area woman is starting her new journey of life, the new beginning, with much more confidence, aware of her strength and looking for serenity.
