TIMELESS AND EXCLUSIVE

The true quality and long-lasting garments lovers defenitely knows really well this label founded in 1999 by Serbian-born, Milan-based designer Dušan Paunovic. In all 17 years the brand still follows the same philosophy: making simple, timeless clothing that you can wear for many years with the emphesis on the quality of material and execution. The great fabric is fundemental in the making loose clothing, because of how it drapes the body. Plus in all these years the designer and consequently the brand never exposed themselves in media a lot, actually they pick magazines to collaborate with, as also shops where they will sell the garments . Our favourite garments for this F/W 2016/2017 season are the oversize chevron wool coat, the asymetric striped sweater paired with rommy pants from the same material and a double-cashmere scarf jacket, as well-as the brand´s classics like the oversized alpaca-blend turtleneck jumper, long tunic-like shirts and pleated, cropped pants or culottes and kimono coats.

There are a really few designers/brands which aesthetic and philosophy I admire and Dušan, the eponymous brand by Dušan Paunovic is one of them. His one of really, really small number of designers that is not influenced by seasonal trends; as Christophe Lemaire, he also despises them. He prefers to be focused as the mentioned brand on the material quality, construction and to continue season by season upgrading and never drastically changing the brand´s aesthetic. Dušan likes to play with oversize proportions and mixing them with soft tailoring, this time in khaki, sand, cement, sugar, cream, black and chocolate colours.

Precious materials, like the chiffon, silk and suede, translated in pieces like a Jacket with geometric profiles that are hidden in the folds, oversize pants and tunic-like shirts, cascade skirts on one side with a piece of material pinched on the hip level, to accentuate the waist line and light dusters and jacket in a super-soft material, that you cannot almost feel their weight. Beside a great-individual personality, are the flat sandals the only accessory permitted here.

It´s all about coat proportions playing for Dušan´s F/W 2014/2015 collection. Labels trademark of comfort-elegance fusion for eclectic and sophisticate women*, gives a really wide variations of outwear for the upcoming colder season; kimono coats with a short back, double-faced cape (striped cashmere in one side, nutria fur on another) and blankets in different sizes (short, long) giving a weightless feeling to the look . The styling is very Dušan, as it needs to be and to remain it that way; a multi-layering dressing to achieve and optimal heat-hold effect with soft and warm fabrics, without losing nice body proportions and elegance. Nothing is too much, neither is missing. Optimal as Dušan can only be.

These are characteristics that all my favorite brands have. I simply admire that Dušan Paunovic (the designer behind this marvelous label, founded in 1999) does not follow any trend and that he do not like to make any publicity using celebrities. No marketing strategy for him. He has his own aesthetic, based on comfort, great cuts, with a Japanese influence. He once said:"Like the clothes, nothing is loud, everything is super understated. Everything is super quiet. I prefer, you know, a lot of very elegant, very chic, very understated people who are not celebrities. Like my usual clientele is an art gallerist or decorators or designers or architects. But always independent women. Which I also like very much. That is very important — when a woman is buying clothing for herself."

When you Love Dušan aesthetic, design...you can never get disappointed. Contrarely, you are every season more and more fascinated; like for the S/S 2014, a nice range of wide pants and shorts, long tunic tops, oversized man jackets. A great synergy of androgynies and feminine.
