Selfridges decided to play really strategically
before the shopping-madness Holiday period. They made a selection of twelve
designers, that in their opinion had a master-role in fashion sector today; so
the tittle of the project is more than obvious, “The Masters”.
Dries Van Noten is Master of the Eclectic,
Undercover’s Jun Takahashi is Master of Subversion, Thom Browne as Master of
Showmanship and Yohji Yamamoto is identified as Master of Defiance. All are
presenting a series of commissioned films made by SHOWstudio, will also have a
dedicated front window and exhibit archival pieces along with specially limited
edition products available through all Selfridges stores and online.
Among them
is also Rick Owens, who got a title of Master of the Elements. In this way the
American designer is celebrating his 20th anniversary since he launched
officially his namesake label. This handcrafted of petrified wood skateboard
deck is a part of the limited edition and curated selection of Rick Owens
favourite products.
The World of Rick Owens concept store runs
until the end of October 2014.
