3 FAVOURITE BEAUTY LOOKS F/W 2017/2018 NYFW

The common denominator is a fresh faced look, regardless if the focus is on xxl eye leashes on the bottom eyelid at Jeremy Scott,  on chicness made with a bright red lips and a low ponytail at Jason Wu or the daily, non-make-up look and sleek, straight hair seen at Victoria Beckham.

COMFORTABLE AND ELEGANT

It feels like it has been ages ago of Victoria doing/creating cocktail/event-wear garments. Now her woman is all about understated and relaxed elegance, no matter if this relax is literal as seen in a satin bomber jacket or a couple of easy jumpsuits or more in a "hidden" way as are cropped, wide-legged, pleated and high-waisted trousers or a slouchy, satin-chic sweat-pant option, not to mention midi dresses and skirts, embellished with micro, retro floral prints. Even the shoes seems comfortable, regardless if it’s about block-heel pumps or pointed masculine-like ones, but still, as the clothes, maintaining the high level of elegance.

WHAT VICTORIA CARRIES?

Gosh, what a dubious question/title is that? Of course in the bag, relax breathe. You think a tons of stuff I suppose, but after you see a size of the bag, you will get disappointed. She carries her essentials (when maybe somebody else carries the extras). Nosy? Just a little bit, because we Love Vic! Ok, Ok, a lot and its Saturday, it´s raining outside, so a good (at least) short chill with a glass of red (or coffee, as you prefer) and Vic´s "showcase" is more than welcome.

VICTORIA BECKHAM´S 5 MINUTE FACE

I really like Victoria, she is really funny and a hard-working woman. I really like most of Vogue videos and found them well-made and with a certain sense of humour. So how it works when the two join together? Great! What is the reason?  Her new collaboration with Estee Lauder that will be launched in September. BTW I guess you already want to know what she used in this video. With pleasure:

EASY-BREEZY

…is kind-a-proper title for Victoria´s latest collection. But don´t get your imagination literally on vacation and beaches, except the floral-hibiscus and the surfer-collage print she used on few garments; we are talking about Mrs Beckham here and we know what her style is*.  Actually she pushed herself quite out of her monochromatic comfort zone, by adding prints and some bold colours; giving to the whole collection, focused on linear-comfortably silhouettes, giving that uncomplicated and fresh attitude. I am really happy that years of corsets, mini-skirts, tube dresses and pointy high heels are faaar away – it actually feels like we are talking about ancient history.

LOGICAL

Looking at images below, maybe you will think that there´s a bit too much going on? If yes, somehow you´re right, but Victoria got a really valuable and plausible excuse. Always when making each collection, the first and foremost thought goes to her customer; what she wants and what she needs outside of her wardrobe. Her collections, as this one, contain also the trendy element, but the main focus remains to answer the diverse wardrobe needs of her customer. The resort 2016 is built on cuts, volumes, asymmetric draping and fold; dresses wrapped around the body and fastened on the side with floral broche, fringes on a cape or as a coat detail, tailored, cropped and cuffed pants, a smoking-like jacket to cheer a more casual look and geometric cuts on evening gowns, revealing that intriguing and sexy, but still very elegant side at the same time.

remembering INGRID SISCHY
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

The art and fashion world lost one of most talented and admired journalist. Ingrid Sischy, a former editor in chief of Interview magazine and lately a contributing editor to several editions of Vanity Fair as well numerous other publications, died aged 63 from breast cancer.
She was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. She graduated Sarah Lawrence College and did a PhD in the humanities from Moore College of Art in 1987. She was the one who did a MoMA NEA curatorial internship for John Szarkowski from 1978 to 1979. Her career took her from Artforum and The New Yorker to Interview and Vanity Fair. Known for her amusing observational style, and affable relaxed presence, Sischy has long been one of fashion's favourite writers, establishing lasting friendships with Karl Lagerfeld, Donna Karan, Madonna and Miuccia Prada among many others. Many of them pay their respect by reminding some private memories with Ingrid.

SMART ELEGANCE

This collection is a great prove how Victoria thinks before act. If we were all surprised when she turned more masculine with boxy aesthetic and military-inspired jackets (for some maybe not a true VB…from my side really applauded collection and happy of her evolving), she did a step back this time; commercially a really clever step beck. Do you remember her beginnings, mostly made of tube-dresses? Well, a clever mind (uh, repetitive me) that Victoria is, she combined the beginning silhouette with her recent-past to obtain a fresh, soft, sophisticated and a good sellable collection, without giving us any more doubtful questions, like “is this Vic or is not?”. That´s happen when someone listens to own customers, but still trying to evolve, because at the end you live (and you can evolve) only from what you sell. No more words need to be add here; the result speak on its own. I simply love it!

UNIFORM INSPIRED WITH SURPRISE

Two days ago we were be able to admire the new and Victoria´s ninth collection; yes her brand is growing and reached nine seasons. The S/S 2015 continues where she started with the F/W 2014/2015 collection; comfortable, man-inspired pieces, without losing any trace of femininity and this time more tailored-uniform oriented.  Can`t forget to mention everything perfectly executed and made of best-quality fabrics. The uniform-inspired looks were mostly present in all jute pieces, like the elongated coats with soft military-like details or safari-like mini dresses, all tied-up with internal grosgrain belts.  There were skirts and a dress with graphic stripes, soft and prolonged knitwear with an “intrecciato” detail (weaving) to end with bold, but yet romantic floral pieces. The novelty part came with the shoes; if till now was Manolo  Blahnik in charge with making the brand´s shoes, now was a time, so  the first time when Victoria designed  shoes under her own name – all flats, from velvet platform-sandals to pointed shoes. Bags also didn´t go unnoticed; a lovely bucket-style one or the “hard”-box made of crocodile leather.

VICTORIA, VICTORIA BECKHAM F/W 2014/2015

Mrs Beckham presented her diffusion line Victoria, Victoria Beckham for F/W 2014/2015 in a different way; no runway and not a traditional look book this season, but into more cinematic way. The short movie-video shot by contemporary photographer Todd Hido, tells a story of using different characters. You can pre-order the collection here.

VICTORIA BECKHAM F/W 2014/2015

If someone complained about her S/S 2014 collection to be too boyish, became pleased after seeing the F/W 2014/2015 one. Not that Victoria Beckham left the menswear inspired shapes, but she add to them, or preferably to say make them more feminine, by elongating the silhouette and adding some femme touches. Like the chain detail for example, that take the role of the button closure on fabulous winter coats or as ornaments on dresses neck and waist line. Or pleated silk back of coats, intarsia on sweaters, fur detail on the white dress hem, swirly motif on a pleated black skirt. Major part of the collection was in a basic, clean color non-color - black or white with some pops of a vivid red. Was there any unexpected piece in the collection? Yes. The sixties inspired red and black tweed coat with big lapels and collar. An unusual piece that ended as a really pleasant surprise.

VICTORIA BECKHAM´S NEW WOMAN

Totally new is the woman by VictoriaBeckham. From the uptown woman, who liked to wear smart midi-length skirts and silk blouse or a stunning-super fit day to night dress, to now a downtown woman, with more younger and urban vibe. Her woman now prefers to be in (still tailored) bermuda shorts, belted dresses with sporty details, mini skirts inspired by tennis look-pleats, a bit easy-slouchy buttoned shirts…all with a boy-meets-girl styling.  All monochromatic, black and/or white with accents of Bordeaux and fuchsia.  Simple and clean.
