CÉLINE FALL 2014 NEW CLASSICS

I know that many of you fashion lovers in the last period like to turn up your nose, everytime you hear the "Céline bag" sentence; I know copies and originals of the C-label in last few seasons were like everywhere and we are now a little in the overeat phase of Céline; especially talking of bags. But here we need to admit something; if someone made any new classic bag model  in last few seasons, was only Phoebe Philo for Céline. So need to be said once again: "Chapeaux!" to her.
Beside the "Tie"and the"Belt" bag, featured as main stars of this Fall 2014 campaign, you can discover all Céline classics here.

CÉLINE PRE-FALL 2014

I would not say any word here (I could talk about great materials, cuts and styling...but we all know and see that is s u p e r b!)...but simply Céline! Click on "Read more" to see the whole collection in details (shoes, bags and accessories included). Thank you again Phoebe!

OH MRS. MARANT!

If I wouldn´t put a title, lots of you maybe would think "Hmm, this is probably a Miss Vogue editorial from the latest issue of Vogue Paris". Nope. But the styling is there-there. It´s Isabel Marant´s pre-fall 2014/2015 collection...now maybe many of you would ask yourslef "But all pre-fall collections were unweiled like 4 months ago". Yes, sooo true. But Isabel did "just" now. Strategic? Probably. Maybe. The thing I know for sure is that I love all of stylings from this collection...and I am even more willing to own my first oversize Marant coat for next winter. Thank you Isabel!

ACNE STUDIOS PRE-FALL 2014

For the Acne Studios pre-fall 2014, creative director Jonny Johansson was inspired by the time spent with his son during fall and winter at his new beach house outside Stockholm. Consequently the result is a sophisticated, but still urban-thought collection with few naïve elements. Shearling motorcycle jackets paired with long, slim skirts, silk tops with a front zip paired with elegant pants, color-blocked, quilted anorak, numerous wrapped, folded pieces and neoprene dresses. The naïve part came with floral appliqués based on cutouts made by Jonny´s son. Softness, warm side of the collection were accentuated with fury, big-long gloves and (home) slippers.

BORROWED FROM THE BOYS OR VICE-VERSA

After you will take a look to J.W.Anderson´s pre-fall 2014 womenswear collection, you will probably have a sort of déjà vu moment, as I did have one. Did many pieces from this collection remind you ones we saw on the menswear F/W 2014/2015? Bingo! Yes, some pieces, like ribbed, knitted tabard with its horizontal stripes in 3 color versions, are almost identical. Well, it is the same one. As also are the black and camel spiral-cut asymmetric-hemlined dresses. Actually are not a mistake or designers lapses, it´s what he is doing for a couple of seasons (like here and here for example). To describe this, he likes to use a term “shared wardrobe” or we can label it “unisex” pieces.  But I am not here to label or anything, but just to underline the great ability Anderson has; his great knits, a great feeling and instinct for proportions and a wearable item. Maybe most of his garments look to you too abstract for a possible real-life wear, but if you break the show image, separate pieces are true jewels for your wardrobe.  His collections are a perfect match for a modern, forward thinking women, who likes to experiment.

STELLA McCARTNEY PRE-FALL 2014

I guess Stella is a big party-lover, due that all of her pre-collections are presented with a party. This time at New York's Harold Pratt House. The McCartney´s woman for the next fall is inspired by Stella’s older sister, who was during young years influenced by punk, edgy street scene, but all relocated to an organic farm in the middle of the countryside. Literal examples of punk were actually missing in the collection; the only vibe of that we could get from embroidered jackets with graphic drawings by the artist friend Gary Hume. Beside that we saw oversize blanket coats with fringed details, sleeveless dress with big polka dots, evening dresses adorned with fringes, dress, coat and bag in star-check pattern.  Very Stella (mixing masculine and feminine; brand´s regular feature), very sellable.

THE ROW PRE-FALL 2014

Classic elegance and luxury is how The Row became known. Mary-Kate and Ashley confirmed their brand´s renommé with the pre-fall 2014 collection. With some big, extra touch; real women instead of models, this time. Linda Rodin, Esther de Jong and Ursula Wallis was the testimonial. Ladies in the age range from 40´s to 70´s, perfectly reflecting brand´s clientele and accentuating the elegance of their clothes. A-line skirts in rougher (men-ish) fabric paired with a ribbed knit cashmere sweater, a waterproof trench coat accessorized with a shoulder bag (actually played a role of a fanny bag), a jacket, a skirt and a sweater in a patchwork embroidery of flowers and the fur coat made with strips of beaver, mink and fox; to finishing with a simple white t-shirt and classic-fit pants.

What the twins reached with the label, is to make timeless, elegant and quality clothes (and accessories). So far from what is trendy and seasonal. The clothes at first look may appear basic, but when a timeless piece has a first-eye wow factor? Never, I guess. This is why my few old, but good pieces with (and let´s say it again) timeless design resist through time and I never got tired of them.

HELMUT LANG PRE-FALL 2014

When we think about Helmut Lang are words like clean, minimal and essential the first that overcome to our minds.  And we are never wrong, because it´s brands dna that continues year by year. The pre-fall 2014 is not an exception. Nicole and Michael Colovos made a collection based on layering of essential wardrobe pieces as are chunky cotton knits, coated linen blazers or the leather one, structured tanks and sweatshirts or a fabulous oversize perfecto leather jacket. The styling works more than perfectly and all layering is made tactfully and with a big dose of sense; never over done or too heavy.  The final touch of the whole picture are made with great oxford shoes constructed from perforated leather and open back to make a sophisticated slip-on effect. Last but not least, those simple-shaped bags, perfect companions for our day to night adventures.

I must to admit that this collection is one of my favorite made by duo Colovos for Helmut Lang. This is a simple lesson to all of us on how to dress on daily basis…pure, modern, simple and elegant.

CHANEL PRE-FALL 2014

If we would expect for Chanel to do something discreet, intimate we would be always wrong…this is Chanel after all, the fashion house after Louis Vuitton the  with the most annual income and they can afford to do it in a big way. After all if someone in fashion business still didn´t get it, you always become successful if you have a great heritage, of course, but I think is even more important that anyone in the world can find in a brand something accessible, to make you live a dream…and they are doing it more than perfectly! So good for them. Why this time Dallas? It was since way back in 1957, when Neiman Marcus' Stanley Marcus, having embraced Coco Chanel's 1954 comeback collection even as the French rejected it, gave Chanel the store's Award for Distinguished Service in the field of fashion. About the collection, not big talks, because as usual is very Chanel, with all Chanel elements…no matter if has a Western-ized version, the point is always there.

OPENING CEREMONY PRE-FALL 2014

When streetwear meets modern tailoring and lady shapes for Opening Ceremony pre-fall 2014 collection. The range of pieces like teddy boy trousers with peacoats at the beginning, to continuing with mini dresses as a modernized-vintage vibe of the 60`s. Some pieces have that something, that we could define as a must have in the last period (a boom made with the S/S 2014 collections); what is it? Naturally an art reinterpretation on the fabric, clothes; an obsession with modernist art, here presented as a paint smudges made with a digital print and containing all colors that are present in the collection: neon orange, white and black, red, beige and blue. To get you more a fall feeling, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon add some furry elements (a bit of Fendi F/W 2013/2014, don´t you think?). From what I saw until now, this is (for now) my favorite pre-fall 2014 collection (if I would feed me only with fashion, now I would starve).

ALEXANDER WANG PRE-FALL 2014

From the Logo-mania of the S/S 2014 now we ended in the collection with an interesting mixture of menswear-tailoring-inspired and sporty-high tech influences with Western elements.  We can find shirts wrapped around the hips, sculpted dresses and tee-s with fringes, short blazer-ish coat and ending with a lovely parka. All was accessorized with a minimalistic version of cowboy boots, brogues and with cool grocery bag-like backpacks.
