These are the first images of the fashion collaboration that we all are waiting for. The images, photographed by Alasdair McLellan, are the first "taste" of what we tomorrow can fully get, when in Paris the whole collection will be unveiled. Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran described the collaboration with these words: "Our philosophy is close to Uniqlo's. Uniqlo designs quality garments for everyday life. It's is not trend-driven. Everything is about the product and technological innovations. Their philosophy is strong and modern. We believe that Lemaire's journey beyond the frontlines of fashion to focus on the wearer is completely in keeping with the LifeWear concept's commitment to comfort, quality and style aimed at making life better. Every item combines elegance with moderate relaxation and comfort, for modern, advanced wardrobe mainstays." They´ve also revealed few details about the whole concept of the collection: "They’re comfortable clothes, warm, very comfy, but chic enough to go out in. Basic is an overused term in fashion, but at the end of the day, it’s quite true, quite right. Pieces that you need, pieces that you want—that’s what we tried to do."
Did he applied his luxury experience, obtained as a creative director at Hermés, to this much more democratic collection? Frank as usual, he replied: "Lemaire is not a luxury brand. We try to do qualitative garments that will last. In this sense, that is also what Uniqlo is doing. Uniqlo challenges our conscientiousness as designers because we know we will dress many different people across the world, and therefore we have to be very attentive to proportions and style. It has to fit everybody's lifestyle and morphology without compromising the style. This is a very interesting exercise."
The collection, priced from €20 to €180, and comprising 30 women's styles and 25 men's options, launches in stores and online in early October.
Excited? What do you think?
