INSPIRATIONS: VIVIANE SASSEN


Inspirations come from different directions and different sources…art, design, nature, love…etc. The main goal of any situation, work or person that inspires us, is to push the lazy part of us away (or almost on one side) and to start thinking…consequently to create something. Express ourselves. One of the most inspiring and exciting figures in the contemporary fashion (and not only) photography, from the new generation, for me is a Dutch-born Viviane Sassen. Her imagery is flamboyant and always challenging, inventive with moments of surrealism. She has created campaigns for fashion houses including M Missoni, Stella McCartney, Carven and Acne Studios (look here and here). She produced many editorials for magazines like i-D, Purple and Dazed&Confused. In 2007 Viviane received the Prix de Rome and in 2011 was awarded the International Center of Photography Infinity Award for Applied and Fashion Photography. In 2013 she exhibited in the Central Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, her first retrospective.

ACNE STUDIOS S/S 2014 AD CAMPAIGN FIRST LOOK


Acne Studios is continuing the successful story-style of their ad campaign; the first photo of the S/S 2014 one is very look-like to the F/W 2013/2014 made by the same photographer, Viviane Sassen, and using again a photo saturation* technic; this time is even more clean, minimal and with a different model, Zlata Mangafic. Not to forgot - a new label, actually a new font of the label.

Definition: (1) Subjective experience of vividness or richness of colour. + That attribrute of colour which distinguishes it from a grey of the same brightness: it correlated with colorimetric purity. + Also known as chroma. (2) Condition of being unable to contain or accept more e.g. a saturation solution will not dissolve any more of a solute; at saturation, a colour cannot be more rich or vivid.

This is the third fashion editorial from the F/W 2013/2014 issue of AnOther magazine (remember this one and this one). That means this magazine, in my opinion, has overall-looking most fab editorials x issue. Great job guys! (btw..the past S/S 2013 for me was even better!). This time all black-all-time favorite color (I feel annoying by repeating myself :P).

I know, the S/S 2014 ad campaigns are around the corner (if we don´t mind that Resort ad campaigns are mostly already out), but I am a big fan of Acne Studios, a hugeee one, every year more and I found this (let´s just call it, because it was only on web)) ad campaign a 100% Acne trademark: Prêt-à-Porter, arty and streetwear, the brand´s dna.
