KHAITE

Looking for simple, late 90´s-inspired silhouettes that have also that rich, a bit eccentric side, like extra-long sleeves, oversize velvet bows, gold-black metalware and woven necklines? Then I think there´s a brand you should pay attention to. Khaite is a new label and creation of designer Catherine Holstein, where you can find everything mentioned and more than that. Build on simple lines, fluid-flattering cuts and made from super-luxurious fabrics, the brand is a women’s ready-to-wear collection that finds confidence in contrast: of masculine and feminine, strength and softness, structure and fluidity, classic and modern.

This F/W 2016/2017, debut collection features long airy, crepe dresses and blouses, sporty cropped knits made from ultra-soft and thick cashmere, wide fluid trouser or more tailored, cropped ones, not to mention the denim part, which Holstein expects to lead the brand. Another denim offer among numerous, close to uncountable brands that does the same, would you think/say now? Well, that “same” word can you literally erase from your mind, at least by Holstein´s opinion. She and her team spend years in quest for a perfect pair. They “built” three styles that have a structured, vintage feel on one side, but softened by feminine details, like brass-lacquer buttons and high waistlines, on the other side.

Khaite is the third brand, beside Tenfold and Protagonist that joined Vanessa Traina´s fashion portfolio called Assembled Brands, which she began in partnership with Adam Pritzker in 2013. So it´s consequently logical that the whole Khaite collection, denim included, is available for pre-order on Traina´s well-known The Line webshop until mid-July when it will become available in both The Line stores, New York and Los Angeles, as well in the store´s summer pop-up shop in Amagansett.
