Inspirations come from different directions
and different sources…art, design, nature, love…etc. The main goal of any situation,
work or person that inspires us, is to push the lazy part of us away (or almost
on one side) and to start thinking…consequently to create something. Express
ourselves. One of the most inspiring and exciting figures in the contemporary fashion
(and not only) photography, from the new generation, for me is a Dutch-born
Viviane Sassen. Her imagery is flamboyant and always challenging, inventive
with moments of surrealism. She has created campaigns for fashion houses
including M Missoni, Stella McCartney, Carven and Acne Studios (look here and here). She
produced many editorials for magazines like i-D, Purple and Dazed&Confused.
In 2007 Viviane received the Prix de Rome and in 2011 was awarded the
International Center of Photography Infinity Award for Applied and Fashion Photography.
In 2013 she exhibited in the Central Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, her first
retrospective.
