Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli for
the S/S 2014 Valentino collection got inspired from the Rome, well exactly from
the costume storage of that Opera, during their visit last summer. “It´s a magic place, where you can admire rich
technical abilities of “botteghe dell´arte” (small art shops) – described the
place Maria Grazia. The collection is beautiful, rich, romantic and with a lot
of bohemian vibe. Chiuri and Piccioli celebrated it in more than seventy
outfits of intense colors as red, green and black, in elaborated embroideries
that glowed against black tulle dresses. Yes, the dresses…Valentino signature dress-es,
high neck with long sleeves and small-pinched waist. This time for the “contrast”
(if I may say so) there were short dresses with a bit widely pleated skirts. To
break the richness of elaborated laces, tulle pleats and medallion prints,
there were an intermezzo of the minimalism (in between) with mostly monochrome
suede and/ or silk dresses, tops and skirts. A big point goes also to the
accessories, from flat gladiators, gold zodiac medallions and cuffs to fringed leather
pouches and studded headband.
A real triumph of a sartorial elegance made
in Italy.
