With "memories of girls I went to high school with in Washington State who were sent to Outward Bound for being bad," Chris Benz sent his sporty lady into the great outdoors. What resulted was a quirky, colorful mash-up of well-crafted luxury-meets-utility gear, key to which was a sense of humor. Nothing was more to that point than the camouflage furs, a blazer, hooded fishing vest and a jacket done in bright blue and green that epitomized the lineup’s sporty whimsy. There were Sixties-ish turtleneck shifts strewn with vibrant paillettes, Lurex stripes and a nice purple, swirling crocheted tank dress. And while no one would call the Day-Glo plaid jackets and cropped trousers safe, such vaguely retro, preppy-but-kooky parameters have become familiar for Benz. It would be nice to see him push his boundaries.
