Sportmax S/S 2010 / MFW / Day two

The starting point for Sportmax’s mixed message was a dusty old trunk filled with grandpa and grandma’s old garb. Hence, the mothball elements that inspired the collection showed up in lacy details, military flourishes and masculine fabrics, revisited in what the press notes called a “contemporary privilege.” Modern it was, especially in the way the looks were layered and infused with that sporty Sportmax attitude. Roomy jersey hoodies slung over lace racer-back tops and shorts had a leisurely weekend pace, while army green belted dresses with patch pockets and cuffed pants over flapping parkas gave military a chic edge. The design team also served up lots of appealing outerwear in the form of gauzy and shiny trenchcoats, nylon anoraks and lightweight parkas.
