This stunning collection is from UWE Bristol graduate Jessica Mills. After seeing her line a number of times I offered to shoot it for her. Jess took inspiration from images of working men, fishermen and nautical explorers. She inter-mixed these ideas with notions of metamorphism and mystical sea creatures. Her large jackets are obscure on the female frame and she emphasized this by under-laying delicate fabrics in soft pinks.
For the shoot Jess and I looked at the images of Vanessa Beecrofts and finalised a desire for something ethereal, something mysterious. We shot by Clevedon pier at 5am on a very cold, very misty morning. Not only did we have a lot of frozen fun, the images came out great and as surreal as we hoped. I am backing her all the way for graduate fashion week. Think thick structured jackets, featherlite floor length dresses, perspex heels, flashes of lime and rock hard accessories.
