Not Just a Label

Text by Clare Potts

Not Just A Label is a great platform for emerging design talent, it offers an excellent online community for over 1000 international designers to share their collections and ideas.

NJAL is now turning their talents towards a unique online store. Stocking an enormous range of one off designer garments from across the World, ‘The Shop’ allow fashion addicts to access exclusive catwalk looks alongside unobtainable limited edition pieces.

Not only ‘The Shop’ is home to new designers, they will also be collaborating with some of the industry’s leading figures. Each month a different fashion expert will be taking the reigns and using their own personal skills to develop this online haven. Head buyer of the famous ‘Maria Luisa’ store in Paris and Unit F, the Austrian association of Contemporary Fashion, Robert Schulié will offer up his services as he watches over ‘The Shop’s’ first month in action. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing what Diane, editor of cult blog ‘A Shaded View on Fashion’ has to offer when she plays host in July.

‘The Shop’ will also be working closely with the long running design industry in Austria, including Tomasz Donocik, Ute Ploier and the iconic Helmut Lang to create innovative collaborative collections exclusively available in ‘The Shop’.

One of my favourites, judging by the images in the ad campaign, is Jiwon Jahng, a Central Saint Martin’s graduate. He has taken fringing and embellishment to the next level. His beautiful, dove grey and blue, fringed piece is a key garment within his collection, just look at the way it moves in the image above.

Hungarian designer Dora Mojzes is another personal favourite, her origami inspired designs are structured, futuristic, and exude attitude.

Below choose by looking and shopping a women or men collections...
