This week, New York City’s Aloha Rag boutique welcomed Jil Sander to its already exquisite roster of fashion labels. The store garnered its name from its original location in Hawaii, but it’s not a surf shop. It’s set up more like a gallery, in which the clean racks of clothing are the installations. Owner and buyer Tatsugo Yoda selects quietly luxurious brands ranging from cult favorites Hysteric Glamour and Golden Goose to Neil Barrett (of Prada fame) and Kitsune (DJ turned designer), not to mention the store’s private label, Garment House Mania. The store, which is tucked discreetly away at the bottom of the West Village, is celebrating the addition of Jil Sander with a limited-edition collection of 110 pairs of white men’s sneakers, which represent the label’s first-ever boutique collaboration. The sneakers, which are available starting today, offer just the sort of sleek, modern minimalism you’d expect from Raf Simons, with a suede base and lattice-like trim reminiscent of a wrestling shoe. Low-top and high top variations will be sold for $325 and $395 respectively. These will go fast in any economy, so get yours today.
