Born in Sydney, Josh Goot was always, from early age devoted toward music, film and fashion. In 1999 he started with a Media Art and Production degree at Sydney’s University of Technology, but not long after that realised that New York and fashion design inspires him more, where his talents were better expressed through. He described fashion design as "another way to talk to people".
Goot established his eponymous label in 2004 and presented his debut collection in 2005, with which he won Tiffany & Co. Young Designer of the Year Award. Judges were impressed by his clean aesthetic and the clever concept of the line. After that he returned to New York, where he receive amazing positive reviews for the same collection and his label was featured on the cover of the iconic fashion bible WWD (Women´s Wear Daily). In 2007 Goot debuted a capsule collection for Target., with which he showcased his mastery of merino wool blend.
Since 2005 Goot showcased successfully his collection during New York Fashion Week and/or during the Australian Fashion Week.
