Y/PROJECT F/W 2014/2015

Why Glenn Martens “quitted” his eponymous label? The reason is that he was named as head designer at the Y. Project—a high-end menswear line founded by Yohan Serfaty in 2010, who passed on April 2013. Being Serfaty´s first assistant four years ago, there are no doubts why Martens was picked to continue the labels legacy. Y-project is well known as mostly menswear leather label, but Martens added* a womenswear collection for the F/W 2014/2015. The collection is very urban, easy, mixing strong, nearly menswear tailoring** with feminine and also sport elements; oversize blazers, menswear-like suits, utilitarian jackets and wide-silk pants on one side, multifunctional pieces appointed with different drawstrings to achieve many-like volumes  on the other side. As he also said it, Martens is playing with duality in this collection – garments that are suitable from day to night, making it different with a simple-volume change. Easy and clever, right?
