The London based duo, who in December last
year received the British Fashion Award for best emerging menswear designers,
surprised (in positive) with their F/W 2014/2015 collection. Agi&Sam (Agi
Mdumulla and Sam Cotton) accustomed us to their bold colors and graphics, but
this time was all monochrome. A turning point? Definitely a step forward. More than one. Mature.
Simple cuts and minimal shapes with loose
tailoring and light fabrics. There were
also still plenty of their beloved prints, accented by African woven fabrics
and the Masai check. Their vision for this collection was to transformed
typical and traditional Western garments with African elements; for example giving
to double breasted coats and suit jackets an addition, lighter layer. To give a
flowing effect, like the same one seen on traditional African garments.
