F/W 2012/2013 // CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE / MEN

Christophe Lemaire’s latest A/W 12 mwn´s Lookbook included an assortment of Irish Donegal tweed and British felted wool I was instantly captivated. Mr Lemaire, by his own admission considers this collection to be his “most precise and highest quality” range which, I feel is a result of the introduction of a cashmere program and heritage fabrics.

The designer, Christophe often refers to Ian Curtis as a person who has influenced his collections aesthetic. You can see that his collection has elements of post-punk and new wave embedded in its characteristics whilst, thankfully not portrayed through band t-shirts. This sophisticated collection features pea-coat style jackets and fisherman caps however, combining the former pieces with loose, pleated-style pants gives the entire collection a monastic luxe. I like how the colour palette with this collection is not-quite-monochromatic as much as is it muted which, allows the wearer to piece garments together without following the designers image and without it looking bland. 9
