Basso & Brooke F/W 2010/2011 / LFW Day-05

A recent trip to Uzbekistan and its Silk Routes fueled the imaginations of Bruno Basso and Christopher Brooke, who turned out a riot of colorful prints.

Shift dresses came pieced together from a seemingly haphazard patchwork of jersey printed with feather, chain mail, lizard, crystal, marble, herringbone and gemstone motifs. The effect was magical – and elegant.

Although the prints – many of them digital – were the stars of the show, Basso and Brooke didn’t forget about shape or texture.

Some shifts were draped or gathered into an asymmetrical row of soft pleats across the front, while others boasted billowy sleeves. Some of the dresses and coasts glistened like glamorous underwater creatures, thanks to silk wool that had been given a vinyl finish.
