Antonio Maras mined the goofy allure of comic Jacques Tati’s Monsieur Hulot with a delightfully eccentric collection for fall. Models loped around Kenzo’s sprawling boutique in an array of oversized rain gear in autumnal tones like brick red and forest green.
Marras mismatched proportions: Snug jackets were paired with roomy trousers tapered at the ankle to set off chunky shoes. Knitwear had a Fifties feel with magnified, geometric patterns and loud floral motifs, worn over raw denim with exaggerated turn-ups.
Minus the leopard-print blazers and some awkward, slouchy trousers, Marras offered a cheerful, alternative look for fall. For the roaring finale, models exited the store and paraded under the rain in picturesque Place des Victoires as a fleet of Sixties-era Citroens circled.
