Jean Paul Gaultier Men's RTW Fall 2010 / PFW-Day01

Having taken his men’s wear back in-house, Gaultier is in fighting form. Corseted lady kickboxers sparred in a ring as muscle-bound, roughed-up pugilists darted around the periphery.

The boxing-inspired fare predictably included hoods, padding and gym-style layering, along with belted cardigans and overcoats constructed like robes.

Anatomically correct muscle fibers were printed on clingy tops, while trousers came in snug fits or with high waists. If the execution of the theme went a bit far, the strong-shouldered tailoring was beautiful and unexpected.

Additionally, there were excellent leather jackets and appealing variations on the motorcycle style, including a cream sweater version.

Puttin’ on the Ritz with satin and fur for evening, the models strutted like moneyed champions. A technical knockout.
