Azzaro S/S 2010 / PFW / Day two

How nice to see Vanessa Seward let go of some of the earnest retro action that has become the house standard, at least at the start of her spring lineup. She made a charming bid for daywear with banded-hem minidresses done in an adorable red, white and blue heart print by artist Florence Deygas, who also did the illustrated embroidery of Seward’s cat, Jo, on a series of white cocktail shakers. The latter was cartoonish and unapologetically kitschy, yet had a wink and wit that’s often lost in Seward’s signature marabou and lamé styles, some of which came with short, fringed and feathered jackets that read as less lovable, more lounge singer.
