Versus S/S 2010 / MFW / Day three

After a four-year hiatus, Versus is back. Under the creative eye of Donatella Versace, Christopher Kane dipped into the Versus archives to produce his first ready-to-wear collection for the company — an after-five lineup of sexy, iconic and bouncy dresses. Citing the early Nineties and the brand’s ad campaigns shot by Bruce Weber as inspiration, the young Scottish designer revisited such staple elements as the safety pin and gleaming chain mail. The latter, cut out in a diamond motif, was inserted into frisky short numbers in khaki or black, while red and green safety pins were fastened onto a skimpy black dress. Cutouts, twisted halter necklines and plissé skirts were other elements Kane mined. Further upping the sexiness factor were sky-high shoes embellished with tough-edge chain links, safety pins or cutout patterns.
