Max Mara S/S 2010 / MFW / Day three

The first look out — a toffee brown satin trenchcoat over a slouchy pantsuit — perfectly nailed the essence of Max Mara’s focused exercise in timeless elegance. Maybe it’s not groundbreaking fashion, but it will certainly relieve the what-to-wear dilemma for those women headed to the office. The trench came slinky or crisp, roomy or skinny, while cotton minidresses, camisoles and shorts tempered the sharp edge of linen or cotton blazers. Tailored alternatives included jackets knotted in the front, shiny coatdresses with epaulets and belted double-breasted styles over pajama pants, delivered in muted tones of beige, cappuccino and sage green.
