Acne have released the images of their S/S 10 menswear shoes, and as Lanvin convinced me last week to consider donning a visor, Acne may well have achieved the equally impossible and swayed me in the direction of the cowboy boot. Shown alongside more ostentatious leopard print desert boots and some characteristically Acne sandals in primary colours, it is the above boots, which managed to draw my eye.
Acne’s simple yet so successful idea of shifting the elastic from the side to the back of the boot alongside the suede and almost dirty green colourway transforms a somewhat tired staple into a sleek, modern shoe.Acne’s work reminded me of the way in which the simplest of details, whether within a whole outfit or merely a piece of clothing can elevate it to another level. Jak & Jil, purveyor of great detail shots, had some great examples; the perfect cuff on a jean sneakily matched with a denim shoe, a frayed jacket, a belt looped over, boots slightly unzipped, and a colourful cummerbund brings some life to a staple shirt and slacks combination. This has inspired me to pay far more attention to the little things, which will hopefully bring some life to my somewhat tired, old wardrobe.
