We’ve had builders in for the last few weeks, working on turning our 80’s green and magnolia bathroom into something semi-21st century. And it’s turned out to be an unlikely source of fashion inspiration - no, not the exposed bottom-cleavages or hi-vis vests, but the toolboxes - all those chunky screws, nuts and bolts feel like a jewellery project waiting to happen.
Suddenly Blaak Homme’s hefty metal-ring neckpieces and Kris Van Assche’s engraved-nut pendants seem only a B&Q trip away. And when Brix Smith-Start started attacking Gok Wan with Maria Francesca Pepe’s supersized flexi-tube chokers last week, whole new uses sprang to mind . . . .
