CALVIN KLEIN

Spring’s sharp lines and strong shapes give way to a decidedly more relaxed collection, filled with artfully tailored silhouettes ideal for brooding in hyper-minimalist settings.

YVES SAINT LAURENT

With an abundance of sophisticated suits and ladylike dresses, slouchy coats and skintight leather pants, Stefano Pilati’s extensive collection has something for everyone, including the very welcome addition of more reasonably priced luxury items.

GIVENCHY

The sensual, gothic details that have become something of a Riccardo Tisci signature were on full display for Pre-Fall, alongside his intermittent fascinations with bondage, Peru, and gauchos (the cowboys, not the pants).

ZAC POSEN

Zac Posen went emphatically retro for Pre-Fall. The speakeasy-style presentation—which mostly featured dresses adorned with fringe and topped with fur—seemed to call for both a return to haute glamour and the repeal of the 18th amendment.

LANVIN

Alber Elbaz struck the Zelda Fitzgerald mother lode of pearls, sequins, jewels, lace, tulle, fur, and feathers for a particularly opulent collection that stands in defiance of today’s sober times.

DOLCE & GABBANA

This collection might take its cue from a more modest, prewar era, but Dolce & Gabbana never abandons its signature sex appeal. An ample dose of leopard print and cleavage can be found among the classic wool jackets and knee-length skirts.

Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough have pretty much perfected the urban uniform, providing some much needed color and personality to an army of downtown girls whose fondness for short hemlines and skinny pants has never faltered.
