Marta Jakubowski was born in Poland, grow up in Germany and used to live and work in Berlin, Antwerp, London and New York. She started her degree at University of Applied Sciences Trier in Germany, took a year out to study at Central Saint Martins and finished her MA at Royal College of Art last summer. In between, she worked with Bruno Pieters, Jonathan Saunders, Alexander Wang and Hussein Chalayan.
Marta caught public attention with her MA graduate collection, showcased back in June at Royal College of Art’s Graduate Showcase. The collection is about the loss of her mum and how much she love and miss her. It’s about the endless connection after being separated. She was trying to capture emotions, all the sadness, madness and sickness in my silhouettes. That she interpreted also in colors; black for sorrow, red for love and white for a new beginning.
A part of the collection was also showcased at the British Fashion Council´s "One to Watch" installation in Somerset House during the last London Fashion Week.
