Edition 8 Year 2012
With version 8.12, presented for A/W2012,
MINNAPALMQVIST takes a step into our base wardrobe. The intricate, sculptural shapes and details from 7.11 are mixed up with simplified versions added to college sweaters, base coats and the black jersey dress.

STATEMENT
“My garments get their inspiration from the exploitation of the female body within fashion and western society, and symbolize the meeting between the socially accepted body and the fleshy, ever changing body we actually have. It is a battle between what we wish for, and what we are trying to hide. The garments emerge from intimate garment details and unwanted body shapes, which enters the fashion scene without pardon.” With an ambivalent attitude towards the norms and values of the fashion world, designer Minna Palmqvist finds inspiration for new ideas through letting the perfect surface of fashion meet the crass reality of everyday life.

With a Master of Fine Arts in Textile from Kontfack College of Arts, Crafts and Design, Minna Palmqvist started her self-entitled brand MINNAPALMQVIST in 2009. The design concept Intimately Social (Int.Soc.) started as a master project in 2007, as has since been shown in various versions in e.g. Stockholm, Berlin, Dubrovnik, Paris and Maastricht. The collection is in constant change, transformation and development and does not follow the traditional fashion seasons. Except from a number of garments, the collection also contains two separate art installations and three films. These two fields are both a part of Minna Palmqvist’s creative vision and feed each other, and pushes the work forward.
