Atifa Rasooli is a Danish designer who launched her first collection under her own name. Her first collection is AW 12 women’s wear.
Her approach to design is to strike a consistent balance between tradition and innovation. “Fabric and silhouette is the foundation of my design and I focus to create pieces that are simple, but yet full of expression and personality.”
The collection is inspired by the quite winter days in Copenhagen that has a beautiful stillness and humbleness into it. The nomads and Japanese silhouettes have inspired me as well. I started with an idea, which forged with inspirations around me. I tried to present that idea in a way that is well balanced.
There is a somber beauty and melancholic impression in the collection with a slight touch of ornamentation. I have tried to show a certain mood through my collection without adding a lot of details. I have focused on silhouettes and fabrics to bring out the right feeling of each piece. I would call my collection classic and chic goes slightly avant-garde and androgyny.
