The menswear designers pushing today's menswear forward are those with a real understanding of how men want to dress. The menswear brands and designers that are maintaining their relevance today are the ones with the clearest, strongest messages. The ones who manage to maintain enough of a commercial edge to actually have a degree of mainstream appeal, but at the same time are not scared to completely reappraise what men want, to look at formatlity and ask how it has changed, when it is appropriate, and whether or not anyone actually cares.
