Devi Kroell RTW Fall 2010 / NYCFW Day-06

Devi Kroell’s first runway show featured a tightly edited collection. She used jewel-toned fur and said she was inspired by “cocooning — a big collar and cozy — but inside is a sexy flasher.” So voluminous coats went over sheer lace tops and mesh bodysuits. Kroell chose a cloud print that had the effect of a blurred ikat for origami-esque pleats on blouses and draped skirts. Evening was a bit repetitive and awkward with strappy wedges that didn’t pair well with the strapless gowns. But the bags, primarily in jewel-toned textured leather and bejeweled suede, will surely catch her customers’ eyes come fall.
