It all began with a black, long-sleeved T-shirt at BCBG Max Azria. And from there, Max and Lubov Azria layered on a color-blocked bonanza that resulted in their best collection in seasons. Bold, color-blocked silk dresses, cut asymmetrically, almost like scarves, floated down the runway, sometimes as tunics, belted over lean pants or shown solo over leggings. A palette of midnight, black and opal gray throughout the show got shots of chartreuse or shimmery sequins. It was this consistently fluid statement that seamlessly fused dressed-up days and dressed-down nights into a soft, singular BCBG mood that was emphatically strong.
