Balenciaga Men's RTW Fall 2010 / PFW-Day01

Much like an abstract artist who, on occasion, delivers figurative works, Nicolas Ghesquière eschewed his geometric shapes and energetic color palette. Instead, he unveiled a highly saleable collection in natural tones that still packed an edgy, contemporary punch.

Whereas stiff suits and topcoats took center stage last season, the Balenciaga man will take it a little easier come fall, sporting spongy-feeling peacoats and duffle coats in dark gray and black.

Ghesquière’s knack for sharp tailoring manifested in cropped shearling jackets, leather blousons and poplin shirts with raw edges.

Meanwhile, he wove a motorcycle theme into iridescent knitwear with articulated elbows and into accessories – such as chunky boots – adding an element of cool.
