What would Tippi Hedren wear for cocktails with the Flintstones? Giles Deacon hatched plenty of playful options with a high-energy send-off to Paris Fashion Week. In a collection inspired by dinosaurs and toxic spiders — and bits of ballerina, too — Deacon imbued familiar Fifties silhouettes with his inimitable punk spirit and plenty of humor. Waist-hugging shifts and shirtdresses came in mint-colored silk printed with tarantulas. Cocktail suits in silvery jacquards were edged with jagged, fluorescent orange plastic. There was a juvenile quality to triceratops shoulder bags and a suite of bustier dresses with flaring tulle skirts. But Deacon also proved that he can evolve into the luxury world with impeccable whipstitch leather dresses with the type of chic that will never go extinct.
