Roksanda Illincic S/S 2010 / LFW

Ilincic is known for her sculptural, jewel-toned satin duchesse dresses, but this season the designer showed she’s capable of a whole lot more. She showed off languid lame gowns and tulle-trimmed T-shirts. Other dresses came in vibrant colors such as turquoise, watery green, deep purple and pink in rich textured fabrics such as waffled lame and matte gazar. She also took an exotic route, stitching black coq feathers and iridescent sequins or jewels on to dresses fit for an African princess. Although her oversized jackets with padded shoulders didn’t look particularly fresh or modern, Ilincic has begun to raise the bar on her collection.
