Marios Schwab S/S 2010 / LFW

This ultra-feminine collection - inspired by Victorian ladies, flappers, and Greek goddesses - looked tricky on the runway. Schwab layered his silhouettes, placing a chain-mail top over a gauzy, draped dress that was then layered over a longer skirt, for example. Taken separately, his silhouettes worked: a gauzy pink dress that resembled a cloud formation or a pale lilac trouser suit overlaid with organza. But the layer-cake approach detracted from their magic.
