B Store S/S 2010 / LFW

Savile Row boutique B Store's spring/summer 2010 collection was variously inspired by Benjamin Braddock, Dustin Hoffman's clean-cut but morally less pure character in The Graduate, and the even less salubrious "Blank Generation" as found in the novels of Bret Easton Ellis.

But while sunglasses concealed any dark-eyed evidence of the extra-curricular activities of the night before, the colour palette put the fresh in freshman, with delicate shades of white, beige and sky blue. Denim and chambray were ubiquitous, in blazers, shirts and shorts, as were preppy staples such as pique polo shirts, gingham check and chinos. (Sweaters were slung over the shoulders, natch.) High-sheen technical top layers such as windcheaters and trenches were polished, not to mention practical, while two-tone panelled Oxfords - worn either with resort shorts and pulled-up white socks or sockless with rolled-up trousers - capped off an eminently wearable collection.
