Mark Ronson for Gucci

When you need no less than custom 12" vinyls with your limited edition sneakers


Gucci plans to launch an 'Icon-Temporary' flash sneaker store that will travel the world starting this October 2009. To coincide with this, Creative Director Frida Giannini has collaborated with musical artist Mark Ronson to design a limited edition collection of sneakers.

A new limited edition
Gucci Ronson sneaker will be introduced at each international destination of the tour, with the collection incorporating classic Gucci design signatures, including the GG logo and a stylized version of the iconic Gucci red and green web detail. Each design includes silver or gold metal dog tags and to really up to luxe factor, customers’ initials can be embossed onto a customized leather tag on the shoe laces.

Frida Giannini said: "From the moment I first sat down with Mark we connected. He has a great eye for design and an amazing knowledge of sneaker history. He is an artist whose influence is cross-cultural and cross-generational."

Mark Ronson commented, "I spent many many years as an avid sneaker collector, so I wanted to make sure these
Gucci shoes were truly special, both from an aesthetic point of view and a collectable one. Frida and I also agreed it was important for there to be a unique musical element to the project, so I’m going to be collaborating with artists, making limited edition tracks for each store opening”.

Each client will receive a custom 12-inch vinyl record with exclusive tracks, produced by Mark Ronson, as a gift with the
Gucci Ronson sneaker'.

The
Gucci flash store will move from New York to Miami, coinciding with Art Basel Miami Beach, then onwards to selected cities in Europe and Asia such as London, Berlin, Paris, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
