Maria Francesca Pepe - Les C

MFP AW 09-10 ‘Les C’ draws inspiration from the 19th century fashionable French prostitutes. Adopting avant-garde proportions, the decorative aspects of the collection also explore a more feminine aesthetic.

Key items in the new MFP collection include her classic 70ies tubular pieces, which have developed through a variety of colours, dimensions and functions as the rest of MFP classic pieces, including the pointed rings and plaque necklaces.

Evening jewellery comprises of extravagant triangular or curly headpieces, shield like collars in three dimensions, and pleated brass lapels, which define MFP signature "wearable jewellery. Raw materials encompass sterling silver and multicoloured plated brass against a palette of pink gold, light bronzed gold and silver fading into a darker grey.

In addition to the lavish curls of Les Cocottes, the collection touches ranges from art-deco to the garconne of 1920’s and the sharpness of early seventies lines. The silhouette has wide and straight masculine shoulders that emphasise the geometry of the lines whilst an unexpected softness of big falling folds mirroring each other in the play of inversion.

Fabric used in the collection elaborated silks, smooth velvet, loden, fine calf skins and embroidered textures come together to create a sense of seduction that is both masculine and feminine. The color palette is black, silver and cream with accents of fuchsia and petrol. Sleek asymmetric ankle boots in velvet with gros-grain details complete the outfits.

The collection is created with the archetypal MariaFrancescaPepe customer in mind. Directional and experimental in their appearance, the MFP pieces appeal to the avant-garde admirer who looks for a non-conventional luxury with a tailoring fit Industry icons such as Roisin Murphy, Beth Ditto, Lulu Kennedy, Agyness Deyn and Alice Dellal are all fine examples of loyal MFPepe supporters.
