There just aren’t enough randomly made-up words out there for my liking.
So my contribution for the week is ARCHITEXTURAL: inspired by some recent images from menswear designers whose work - consciously or otherwise - evokes architectural details and surfaces.
Take Central Saint Martins graduate Shaun Samson’s billowing smocks, rippling with alternating triangulated patterns, or RCA star Kim Choong Wilkins with his menacingly countoured knitwear - space-age surfaces that could have jumped straight from a 21st century skyscraper.
London College of Fashion designer John Howard Little’s collection features some trousers so stunning they probably need a new word all of their own, with finely panelled layers and overlapping cut-outs, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s textile block houses.
